It happens to everyone eventually. You go. You do your thing. You wipe. There’s nothing there. Not a trace. The paper comes back cleaner than when it went in. You wipe again just to be sure. Still nothing.
You have experienced a Ghost Poop.
What is a ghost poop?
A ghost poop is a bowel movement that leaves no evidence of itself on the toilet paper. It’s typically the reward for eating enough fiber, drinking enough water, and getting decent sleep. Your body ejects a firm, well-formed stool that clears cleanly, leaves the exit surface pristine, and departs without ceremony.
You look at the paper. You blink. You question your own memory. Did you actually go? You did. It’s in the bowl. You just did it correctly.
Should you be worried?
No. A ghost poop is the goal. It’s your body telling you that you’re doing something right. Ghost poops correlate with:
- ★Fiber intake of ~25–35g per day
- ★Actually drinking water
- ★Physical movement, however grudging
- ★A stress level below "crying in a Trader Joe’s parking lot"
If you’re getting ghost poops regularly, congratulations — your GI tract is in cinematic condition. If you’ve never had one, or if it’s been a while, examine your diet.
The catch.
Here’s where it gets philosophical. Just because the paper is clean doesn’t mean YOU are clean. A ghost poop cleared the interior. The exterior is a different story. Even the tidiest exit leaves microscopic residue that dry paper cannot detect and cannot remove.
A wet wipe reveals the truth every time. If you’ve been through a ghost poop and then followed up with a wipe, you know what we’re talking about. Even the best evacuation deserves a real cleanup.
A ghost poop is a compliment from your body. A wet wipe is how you return the compliment.
